Lake Mary, FL – In their first-ever, jointly authored book, Breaking the Stronghold of Food, Michael and Nancy Brown share the inspiring, practical, and humorous story of their journey from obesity to vibrant health. They skillfully take aim at the unhealthy American diet that so many have become addicted to, and they offer a new approach to a healthy lifestyle.
Their story began in July 2012 when Nancy braved the journey to her bathroom scale to discover that at 5’2” she weighed 195 pounds. She decided to completely change her lifestyle, and she started eating a healthy, plant-based diet. One year later Nancy was 114 pounds, which was less than she weighed in high school.
Subsequently in August of 2014 Nancy’s husband, Michael, had a similarly life-altering revelation when he weighed in at 275 pounds. Less than eight months later, after he began a new lifestyle of eating a healthy, plant-based diet, he weighed 180 pounds and had lost more than ten inches around his waist. Both Nancy and Michael have radically changed their lives and now share a passion to see others do the same.
“I’m not talking about some kind of dieting gimmick or fad,” Michael Brown writes. “I’m talking about transforming your life and totally changing how you relate to food. I’m talking about being a disciple when it comes to eating, about taking on a whole new way of living—a wonderful way. And the great thing about it is that when you make the change and renew your mind and reprogram your habits, you won’t feel deprived at all. You’ll thrive.”
In this insightful and encouraging book the Browns cover topics such as:
· Setting your sights on the goal
· Reprogramming your mind
· Holiness principles for wholesome eating
· Ten recommendations for a healthy lifestyle
“Yes, food strongholds are powerful, but isn’t the power of the Spirit greater than the power of doughnuts?” Michael Brown asks. “Isn’t the life of Jesus inside of you—the life of the resurrected Son of God—greater than any food addiction? When God says you are an overcomer in Him, yes, even more than a conqueror, doesn’t that include victory over potato chips?
