New book by bestselling author Dr. Don Colbert challenges readers to rethink Alzheimer’s and dementia

Dr. Colbert’s Healthy Brain Zone’ reveals connection between late-life cognitive impairment and a healthy, gut-friendly diet

DALLAS — More than 6 million Americans live with Alzheimer’s. By 2050, this number is projected to rise to nearly 13 million. 1 in 3 seniors dies with Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia and it kills more people than breast cancer and prostate cancer combined. Fewer than 1 in 5 Americans are familiar with mild cognitive impairment (MCI), which can be an early stage of Alzheimer’s, and leaves the vast majority of Americans vulnerable to dementia and Alzheimer’s. What can people do to prevent such a devastating disease?

The key ingredient to fight memory loss, dementia, and Alzheimer’s isn’t prescriptions or unnatural treatments, says bestselling author Don Colbert, MD. It’s in a healthy, gut-friendly diet.

“More and more, science is proving that a healthy digestive system is the key to a healthy brain and body,” Colbert commented. “I wanted to shed a light on the science behind the brain-gut connection to encourage people to make wise and healthy diet choices that will protect their brains from cognitive diseases and disorders.”

From Don Colbert, MD — the New York Times best-selling author who brought readers “Dr. Colbert’s Keto Zone,” “Dr. Colbert’s Hormone Zone,” and “Dr. Colbert’s Healthy Gut Zone” — comes his latest and most revolutionary book yet: “Dr. Colbert’s Healthy Brain Zone.” Dr. Colbert looks inside the science and provides natural protocols and treatments for cognitive decline, including:

  • A weekly plan that incorporates supplements and healthy eating for optimum results
  • Thirty easy-to-make recipes for restoring balance and maximizing brain function
  • Instructions for other simple protocols that help maintain a healthy brain

“Alzheimer’s and dementia cases are hitting every country,” Colbert explained. “Without changing the paradigm, without making changes at the personal level, and without doing something different from the masses, the statistics will only continue to rise. Thankfully, there are answers. There is something you can do about it. You do not need to accept this status quo, the age-related ‘normal,’ or the genetic history you may have inherited.”

Readers are invited to join Dr. Colbert as he builds upon the knowledge about the gut-brain connection provided in “Dr. Colbert’s Healthy Gut Zone” and the ultimate healthy eating lifestyle to offer hope for preventing, slowing, and fighting memory loss, dementia, Alzheimer’s, and other cognitive disorders.

Best-Selling Author, Don Colbert, MD on the Importance of Gut Health

Dr. Colbert: ‘Your Gut Affects It All”

DALLAS — In his forthcoming book, Dr. Colbert’s Healthy Gut Zone” (DrColbertBooks), best-selling author Don Colbert, MD, asks his readers, “How is it that the gut plays such a massive role in our overall health?” New York Times best-selling author Don Colbert, MD, helps readers “unlearn” everything medical experts have been teaching about healthy eating for the last three decades and reveals the true path to digestive health through proper diet supported by nutritional supplements. Dr. Colbert’s book, which will be released on Jan. 5, 2021, is available to pre-order through AmazonBarnes and NobleBAMChristianBookIndiebound and Walmart.

It might seem a little outrageous to some people that the GI tract, which is about thirty feet long, is all that important to every part of our lives. At one level, it does seem illogical that the mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, and large intestine can affect the brain, immune system, heart, body weight, and overall health.

“But imagine you have run a hot bath and are preparing for a relaxing soak after a long, hard day,” said Dr. Colbert. “A live electrical wire runs right through the water, but you have been assured that the wire has no holes. Would you get in the tub?

“Just like a wire, your gut can develop holes, and that is only one of the problems. Another issue is the fact that what we put into our mouths in the form of foods, beverages, and medications can kill off so much of the good bacteria in the gut that it takes years to regrow.”

Dr. Colbert explains that the proven and potential effects cannot be ignored because they come in the form of symptoms, ailments, sicknesses, and diseases. All of this comes through the doctor’s door at one time or another. According to Dr. Colbert, the following list of issues have one thing in common: a healthy gut can bring relief from them, reduce the effects, and sometimes heal every one of them.

  • Brain: ADHD, Alzheimer’s disease, autism, brain fog, dementia, memory problems, Parkinson’s disease, Tourette’s syndrome
  • Lung heart, and mouth: asthma, atherosclerosis, gum disease, halitosis, heart disease, high blood pressure
  • Body: allergies, arthritis, chronic fatigue, chronic yeast problems, diabetes, extreme menstrual and menopausal symptoms, fibromyalgia, food sensitivities, joint and muscle inflammation, obesity, slow metabolism
  • Autoimmune: Graves’ disease, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, lupus, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, vitiligo
  • Skin: acne, dermatitis, eczema, lichen planus, psoriasis
  • Mood and sleep: anxiety, depression, insomnia, mood swings
  • Gut: acid reflux, celiac disease, chronic constipation or diarrhea, Crohn’s disease, gas and bloating, inflammatory bowel syndrome (IBS), small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), small intestinal fungal overgrowth (SIFO), ulcerative colitis, ulcers

“What is pretty incredible—even amazing—is watching patients with one or more items on this list improve by getting their guts healthy again,” continued Dr. Colbert. “I have seen patients’ symptoms eradicated, medications discontinued, and diseases cured.”

There is no single comprehensive test to gauge the health level of your gut and its microbiome. However, the previous list of symptoms, ailments, sicknesses, and diseases is a telltale sign of your gut health. If you suffer from anything on that list, then your gut health probably needs improving.
