Updated 20th Anniversary Edition of Dr. Michael Youssef’s Book ‘Empowered by Praise’ Inspires Readers to ‘Praise God by Name’

Bestselling Author’s 20th Anniversary Edition ‘Empowered by Praise’ Set for Release on September 7

ATLANTA — The updated and expanded 20th anniversary edition book, “Empowered By Praise: Experiencing God’s Presence and Power When You Give Him Glory, written by bestselling author Dr. Michael Youssef is set for release on September 7, 2021.

In his book, Dr. Youssef provides new insights on ways to give praise to God that will result in personal growth and spiritual transformation. For example, he notes that on Sunday mornings, many churches sing an upbeat praise chorus that calls for believers to honor the Lord with “a sacrifice of praise.”

But there is one question. “How many of those who sing this song are able to define what is meant by, ‘a sacrifice of praise?’” asks Dr. Youssef.

He defines a sacrifice of praise as the confession of the names of the Lord: “It is speaking His Name in relationship to our personal life.” Dr. Youssef then identifies the nine names God uses to reveal himself to us in the Bible:

  1. Yahweh: The God Who Always Is
  2. Jehovah Jireh: God Our Provider
  3. Jehovah Rapha: God Our Healer
  4. Jehovah Nissi: God Our Banner
  5. Jehovah Mekaddish: God Who Makes Us Holy
  6. Jehovah Shalom: God Our Peace
  7. Jehovah Rohi: God Our Shepherd
  8. Jehovah Tsidkenu: God Our Righteousness
  9. Jehovah Shammah: God Who Is Present Always

“This allows us to praise God, the God who reveals Himself to us through His Names,” says Dr. Youssef. “We will be moved to praise the Lord for the many attributes that are embodied in the Names of God.”

Dr. Youssef further explains: “We must always keep in mind two things as we praise the Name of the Lord: First, our praise is to go to each person of the Holy Trinity. And second, we must never take our adoption as God’s children for granted.”

Indeed, when readers truly catch a glimpse of what it means to be God’s child, we must hold fast to that truth, and remind ourselves often that we are heirs and a reflection of our heavenly Father.

“We must be ever aware of how privileged we are to be called sons and daughters of the Most High,” says Youssef “We are in relationship with Elohim, almighty God, and it is a great privilege to say to Him, “Abba”— “Daddy God.”

Dr. Youssef’s “Empowered by Praise” will guide readers into a richer understanding of admiration for God by showing new ways to give Him glory.

Youssef states, “We are designed to praise something, and we cannot separate what we say from what we think; therefore, we should ensure that our thoughts and words always point back to Christ. What a responsibility we bear as we praise God’s Name!

“Praise honors the Lord, but it also changes us—drawing us into His nearness, guiding us in our daily life, and opening the door to His power,” explains Youssef. “Any time we really begin to praise the many names of God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—we will grow in our awareness of His presence with us. The more we catch a glimpse of all that God does and who He is, the more we will want to praise Him. The more we know God through praising Him by name, the more we will feel Him at work in our lives, and the more we will see manifestations of His presence and power all around us.

“Praise God, the God who reveals Himself to us through His names,” says Dr. Youssef. “When we praise God, let’s call Him by name!”
